James Luther Pitts       2/19/1944 – 1/24/25

  James Luther Pitts of Spanish Fort, AL, age 80, passed away on January 24, 2025. As the son of a US Foreign Service Officer, Jim was born in the Panama Canal Zone and lived across the world until he settled in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from the University of Washington and University of New Orleans. Following service in the US Army, he worked for 35 years with the US Dept. HUD. 

 Jim was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Josephine Pitts. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Arbesman Pitts; brother John Pitts, sister Sandra Pitts-Malone, and 2 nephews.

 Jim and Cheryl retired to Spanish Fort in 2008 where he continued hobbies of working with computers, wood, metal, and brewing beer. He was active in their church, Ascension Lutheran in Daphne. They have been residents of Westminster Village since 2023.

 A funeral service will be held at Ascension Lutheran on Friday, January 31, 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:30. Burial will be in New Orleans at a later date.

 The family appreciates the care given to Jim by the staff of WillowBrooke Court (Westminster Village) and Gentiva Hospice.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 8888 Co. Rd. 64, Daphne, AL 36526.
