Fairhope

James (Jim) Dale Deason, 90, of Fairhope passed away at his home on June 27th, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Jesse Deason and Mary Sis Deason (McMillan) as well as brother Billie Deason and sister Linda Deason Vinke. He is survived by wife Diana Gail Deason (Mooney), sons James Dale Deason Jr. (Gayle) and Jeffrey David Deason (Kelly) as well as brother Lee Hamilton Deason (Susan). Grandchildren included Joshua Deason, Courtney Tidwell, Kaley Bowdoin, James Deason III, Alyssa Deason and Jackson Deason and great grandchildren Piper Tidwell, Chloe Deason, Malakai Deason and Caroline Deason.

Born on February 12, 1934, in Parrish, AL, Jim graduated from Auburn University and later earned a law degree from Jones Law School. Employment included US Pipe & Foundry, Southern National Gas Co. (SONAT) and McGriff & Siebels with titles ranging from Insurance Manager, Senior Producer and Vice President. His business partners, co-workers and overseas partners were a big part of his life and a source of pride.

An Auburn man to the core there was no greater joy than watching Auburn sports, in particular Saturdays watching Auburn football. A day spent with Jim watching a game was usually more entertaining than the game itself, he was completely invested and turned loose. Also an avid golfer, he was a member of Inverness Country Club near Birmingham and later Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear. He shot his age several times and he loved showing off the scorecards.

In November 2023 he celebrated 50 years of marriage to the love of his life Diana. Their devotion to each other was inspiring and they travelled all over the United States and abroad enjoying a rich and full life together. It was the most important part of his life and one he did not take for granted. He was also a loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, his tough love and life lessons were a central part of his being. Jim was a man's man, opinionated, caring, loving and the center of attention in whatever arena he was in, a great storyteller and Renaissance man who will be missed by all that knew him. Rest in Peace and War Eagle!

No services are planned at this time, the Family will hold a Private Memorial at a later date to be announced.
