James Arthur Carpenter, age 83, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021. James graduated from Fairhope High School and the University of Alabama. He served three years in the U.S. Army. His working career was in Human Resources with Ford Motor Company, Nissan and Staffmark Company. In retirement, James enjoyed reading, traveling throughout the United States, and especially Alabama football. After relocating to his hometown of Fairhope, he became a member of St. James Episcopal Church. James was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Sylvia Harris Carpenter; father, James Calvin Carpenter; mother, Lula Grimes Carpenter; brother, Cleve Koen. James is survived by his wife of 10 years, Joyce B. Miller Carpenter; daughters and sons-in-law, Jame and Jeff Casey of Southern Pines, NC, Jody and Chris Nevels of Gainesville, GA; six grandchildren, Miranda, Jimmy and Mitchell Casey, Avery (Jeremy) Presley and Carson and Parker Nevels; bonus daughter, Pamela Miller, bonus sons, Billy (Boyd) Miller and Andy (Emily) Miller and three bonus grandsons. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2:00pm in the chapel of St. James Episcopal Church, 860 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama. A reception will follow the service in the church parish house. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Susan G.
