 FAIRHOPE, AL.   Jackie Wayne Woods, 76, died May 24, 2019, at his home in Fairhope, AL with all his family at his side.    Mr. Woods was the seventh child born to Naomi and Dave Woods on December 9, 1942 in Lake Village, AR. He grew up in Bastrop, LA, but was also a previous resident of Scottsboro, AL and Spartanburg, SC. During his college years, he played football and won the Gulf States Conference Championship. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He worked in the paper industry for 45 years and Couch Pit University recognized him in June 2000 for his contribution to the advancement of papermaking science and technology. He also served in the Louisiana Army National Guard and was a member of the Methodist Church.      He is preceded in death by his parents, Naomi and Dave Woods of WA, his brothers, Bryson Woods of WA, John D. Woods of TX, Billy Woods of AL, his sister, Dorothy Dunaway of GA, and his aunt and uncle, Avis and Earl Durham of LA.      He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Wells Woods, his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Woods McGee of Scottsboro, AL, Terri and Martin Myrick of Fairhope, AL, Pamela and Matthew Simon of Clemson, SC, his grandchildren, Lindsey Woods and Cpl. Brandon McGee USMC of Scottsboro, AL, Madeline Myrick, Blayne Myrick, and Jack Myrick of Fairhope, AL, Whittaker Simon and Quinn Simon of Clemson, SC, special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gail and Robert LaHatte, special niece and nephew, Suzanne LaHatte and Michael LaHatte of MS, his sisters, Betty Dye of AR, Mary Woods of WA, Shirley Turbyfill of VA, Cathy Woods of OR, sister-in-law, Margot Woods of TX and several other nieces and nephews.   There will be a memorial service held at Fairhope United Methodist Church, Tuesday, May 28th at 4pm.  The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Fairhope United Methodist Church.
