Hugh Howton

Hugh Howton passed away August 2, 2022, at the age of 74. Hugh was married to the love of his life, Diane Baggett Howton for 56 years. They have one child, Shelley Milam, son-in-law Adam Milam and one grandson, John Henry Howton Milam, who were the light of Hugh’s life. Hugh served 4+ years in the U.S. Navy, with 2 tours of Vietnam. He was assigned to the Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet and the USS Ticonderoga. He was privileged to be aboard for the Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 recovery. He was employed by AT&T for 36 years in engineering. He was ordained as a deacon at Shades Crest Baptist Church, Birmingham, AL and an Elder, Deacon at Roswell Street Baptist Church, Marietta, GA. Hugh loved the Lord and served Him with a calm and tender heart. He will be missed by many. A Memorial Service is planned, graveside, at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort, AL on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 1:30pm In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, by phone at 800-608-3023, or to your favorite charity.
