Howard H Wolf, Jr, “Howie”, 82, a resident of Foley, AL passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, AL, surrounded by his family. Howie was born on June 15, 1940 in Oak Park, IL to Howard H Wolf, Sr and Ruth Smith Wolf. He graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He also was a Youth Officer with the Brookfield, IL Police Department, retiring in 1983. After moving to Wisconsin in December, 1983, resumed his career in the Funeral Industry as Manager of Restlawn Memorial Park (Tribute Cemetery Systems), and as a Funeral Home Assistant at Brainard Funeral Home in Wausau, WI. After retiring for the second time, he set sights on Gulf Shores, AL and has lived in that area for 20 years. Not one to be idle, Howie returned to work part-time at Pine Rest Memorial Park and Funeral Home until 2015. Howie loved professional vehicles and owned several hearses and limousines, donating time to charitable causes. Pete Rossell, Dan Quayle, Dr Christiaan Barnard, and notable others were chauffeured by Howie. Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Gulf Shores, AL, had a special place in Howie’s heart. His contributions included The Knights of Columbus, Parish Council, Building and Grounds, Adult Altar Server, Usher, and Eucharistic Minister. He received the Christ the King Medal from Archbishop Thomas Rodi in 2016. Along with his huge heart, Howie was socially outgoing, and possessed a sense of humor envied by many! Even after dementia had set in, he still told his jokes which his family cherished. Howie is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Mary Beth (Dutmer); 2 sons, Timothy (Darnelle) Wolf, Andrew (Julia) Wolf, all in Foley; 2 daughters, Amy VanDyke, and Hilary (David) Samples, all in Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tressie Wolf and Dakota Wolf, Christopher Wolf and Brianna Samples, Tanner and Alyson Wolf; 2 great grandchildren, Charlotte and Beau Terry. He was also a special “G-PA” to Keesha (Jeremy) Campbell, brother-in-law Barry (Teresa) Dutmer, and a special, much loved brother-in-law to Jeanne (Jim) Wolf Chiappetta. Howie was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, William Braeger and Richard Wolf. Howie’s life will be celebrated at Our Lady of The Gulf Catholic Church in Gulf Shores AL. Friends may visit in the Hall from 10AM until the Mass at 11AM. Father David Carrucci will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Our Lady of The Gulf Building Fund.
