Herschel Paul Bentley, MD, age 92, a resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021. He was born October 27, 1928 in Amory, MS.
Dr. Bentley was predeceased by his parents, Herschel Paul Bentley, Sr., and Frankie Boozer Bentley; brother, Thomas Franklin Bentley; sister-in-law, Jeanie Bentley; and daughter, Valerie Bentley Pregeant.
Dr. Bentley is survived by his wife, Betty Jones Bentley; children, Paul Crawford Bentley (Jennifer) of Trussville, John Franklin Bentley (Angela) of Mobile, Harrison Gardner of Mobile, Abigail Gardner Davis of Mobile, Rhonda Bentley of Mobile; and his beloved grandchildren.
Dr. Bentley will be remembered for his love of and care for children and the many programs he established for them during his years of medical practice.
Upon retirement, Dr. Bentley utilized his many talents in antique furniture restoration and reproduction, painting, authoring several medical articles and a book “…And I will Practice My Art”. He enjoyed telling stories of his boyhood, medical career and his adventures as visiting professor on the Good Ship Hope.
He will be missed by his family, friends, and colleagues, as well as his patients and their families.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10:00am at Memory Gardens of Fairhope, Fairhope, Alabama.
