Harry Leo Williams passed away Monday, January 29, 2018. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Harry Leo “Buddy” Williams, Jr.; parents Harry Williams and Grace Lipscomb Williams; his sisters, Evelyn Shepard, Camilla Shepard, Lella Mae Williams, Eva Snider, Dorothy Tillmon, and Leona Frakes. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Esther Holman Williams; daughter Cynthia Williams Gates; grandchildren Allison Gates, Angela (Ray) Wilhite of Auburn, AL, and Amanda (Norman) Duffell of Huntsville, AL; great-grandchildren Amelia Wilhite, Jack Wilhite, and Lydia Duffell; nieces, nephews, and many friends.Harry was born on February 24, 1932, and he filled his 85 years with love, family and friends, and fun. He truly enjoyed life and the people he met along the way. He had a generous heart and always helped those in need. Harry served his country in the United States Navy and Naval Reserves for eight years. During his time of service, he spent a year overseas and often told how he broke the ship’s rules by having a picture of a woman in his locker – his newborn daughter! Harry enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He loved telling stories, and his family treasures all the tales Harry told of his time in the Navy and his years of farming and shrimping. Visitation will be held on February 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, AL. Funeral services will be held on February 2 at 2 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, followed immediately by burial at Vernant Park Cemetery.
