Grady Oliver Daughtry Jr, 73, of Fairhope, AL, passed away on October 28, 2024. He was born on October 10, 1951, Alabama to Icola and Grady Daughtry, Sr.
Grady proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 11 years, earning several commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with One Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Professional Military Education Ribbon during leadership school, and the Air Force Overseas Service Ribbon. His dedication and commitment to service exemplified his strength and patriotism.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Marie Daughtry; his parents; his brother, Lee Roy Daughtry; and his grandson, Javonte Stewart. He is survived by his son, Derick Elgin Daughtry, and his wife April; his siblings, Eddie of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Catherine of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Edward Daughtry of Atmore, Alabama, Quncie Mare Ladd of Fairhope, Alabama, and Calvin Daughtry of Memphis, Tennessee; and his dearly beloved aunt and devoted matriarch, Henrietta “Aunt Dottie” Daughtry who has been blessed with over 100 years of life. Grady was also a proud grandfather to Linda Marie Daughtry, Zauria Glenn Stewart, and Nyia Olivia Daughtry. He leaves behind special friends, Clinton Lewis, Will Kahlbau, and April Kahlbau, along with his devoted niece, Delisa Ash.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home and Crematory, 19698 Greeno Road, Fairhope, AL 36532.
A service to honor Grady’s life and military service will take place November 8, 2024, from 10 a.m. at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL. A repass will follow at Good Samaritan Sanctuary in Fairhope, AL. The family extends a special thanks to Pastor Henry Crawford and the church family for their support and compassion.
Grady will be remembered as a devoted father, sibling, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
