GM3 Taylor Michael Santa Cruz, age 21, stationed at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor in Washington, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019. Taylor graduated from Daphne High School with honors. He played football for Daphne High School, was a member of Daphne Strike Soccer League, and was a lifeguard at the YMCA in Daphne. He proudly served his country with strength and honor as a member of the United States Coast Guard. He lived life to the fullest and will be loved and missed by many. Taylor is survived by his parents, Robert and Stephanie Akins of Daphne; sisters, Anna Lynn Akins, Sarah Martin; grandparents, Mike and Ann Chase of Vestavia, AL; aunts and uncles, Kim and Blake Alexander, Sandi and Gary Dowdy; cousins, Elizabeth, Ann Martin, Joseph, and Dylan; roommate and Coast Guard brother, Luke Rogers; beloved dogs, Daisy, Coal, and Diego; other loving relatives and friends. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 6, 2019 in Malone Hall at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 28788 N Main St., Daphne, AL 36526, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am.
