Gloria Dye of Lillian, Alabama, passed away on April 15, 2022. Gloria retired from Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL in 1995 as a supervisor in the Medical Records Department. She spent her life rescuing and spoiling as many dogs as possible. Many of her friends often joked they would like to come back in their next life as one of her dogs. Her other passion in life was planning and preparing meals for her family and friends. For the past several years, her disabilities have limited her time in the kitchen, but she has taught others her skills, and her legacy will live on with her family. Gloria is predeceased by her parents, Boudinot Smith and Bernadyne Cochran Smith; parents in law, Ted O. Dye and Winnie Faye Dye. She is survived by her husband Michael Dye; daughter Lisa Miller (Jason McGarity); granddaughter Erin Miller; brothers Richard Smith (Elena), Justin Rousse, and Kenneth Smith; special grandniece, Kyndall Cannon; brothers-in-law, Steve Dye (Jackie) and Scott Dye (Sheila); many nieces and nephews and her fur children Lilly and Winnie. A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Lillian in Lillian, AL and the celebration of life following at 2:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, please donate a pint of blood at the blood center of your choice; or make a contribution to Greyhound Pets of America at greyhoundpets.org. She will be cremated, and her ashes scattered on her family’s property in Silverhill, AL in a private service at a later date.
