Géza John Stephen Papp, a native of Hungary and a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, at the age of 88. Preceding him in death, were his parents, Géza and Klara Papp and his sister, Clara Papp. Géza is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maria, also surviving are his son Géza Jr. his wife Nancy, their daughters, Rachael M. Vallozzi, husband Ryan and Stephanie I. Papp, and his Daughter Maria N.L.K. Papp-Payne of Belforest and her Daughter Danielle Payne. He received the Order of Vitez, granted by the Habsburg - Lorraine Dynasty and Ruled by the Holy Crown of Hungary and is a distinct honor, unique for its originality, and still alive in Hungary. Géza and Maria have been members of St. Lawrence Catholic Church for many years. Géza was a graduate of Iowa State and was an accomplished Chemical Engineer who had a productive and long tenure with both Shell Oil and DuPont Chemical companies. He was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. When not working Géza enjoyed cooking, reading and traveling to many destinations around the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America. One of his special destinations was Waikiki Hawaii. His extended family will miss him dearly and they all know that he is now at peace after having gone through a difficult battle with Dementia. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Monday, July 31, 2023, at 10:00am To honor Géza’s memory, donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Dementia Society of America and/or The Wounded Warrior Project.
