Gerald Durand Koors, Jr., affectionately known as “Chopper” a resident of Spanish Fort, passed away, Friday, December 14, 2018. Gerald was a master craftsman and artist. He enjoyed Alabama football, gardening, Widespread Panic and the Allman Brothers. Music was his passion, he was the founder and promoter of the second annual “Jedfest”. Gerald also enjoyed spending time laughing with his family and friends, playing with his dogs and spending time in the mountains out west. He was proud to be a former Big Chief Mentone with the Audobon Society. Gerald’s great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald D. and Betty Koors, Sr.; one sister, Nena Hendricks. Gerald is survived by his wife, Lynn N. Koors; two children, Melissa (David) Roberts, Anna (Greg) Knechtel, all of Spanish Fort; two brothers, Dr. John “Skip” (Lisa) Koors of Anniston, Mark Koors of Spanish Fort; two sisters, Gail Wilson of Daphne, Dee Dee Boyington of Pensacola; three grandchildren, Noah Roberts, Caleb Knechtel, Benjamin Knechtel,all of Spanish Fort and a host of other loving relatives and friends. A Celebration of Gerald’s Life will be held Sunday, December 16 at 2:00 pm at 30442 Lee Road, Spanish Fort. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Baldwin County Humane Society.
