George Raymond Parker, born February 9, 1948, went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 3, 2020, at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, AL. He was the loving husband of Marie Parker. They enjoyed 49 years of joyful marriage together. Born in Mobile, Alabama, he was the son of George W. Parker and Madelaine Cotton Owen. He was a graduate of Murphy High School and a letterman in baseball and then served in the U.S. Army. He later worked for The Mobile Gas Company until 1983, when he and Marie answered the call to foreign missions. He dedicated his life to the Lord Jesus and spent his entire career with New Tribes Mission. He served NTM faithfully including years in Cote D'Ivoire, West Africa, and traveled globally in the spirit of furthering the Gospel. His greatest joys were his children and grandchildren. He was an athlete and sports fan who loved Alabama football and the St. Louis Cardinals. He became an enthusiastic tennis player and even officiated professional tennis tournaments. In 2008, Raymond and Marie returned to the Mobile Bay area and settled in Baldwin County where he felt at home. He loved Mobile and the history of his hometown. He is survived by his loving wife Marie White Parker, his children Jennifer Parker, Thomas "TR" (Josilynn) Parker, his grandchildren Leah Deal, Kaitlyn Parker-Becker, Bayly Becker, Parker Becker, Kinsley Parker, and his mother Madelaine C. Owen. He was predeceased by his father George W. Parker his grandparents Mallory W. Parker and Katie Morris Parker and brother Gregory Lee Bowden. An intimate family graveside service will be held at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort October 8, 2020.
