Gay Scott Tennent, age 79, resident of Fairhope AL, died peacefully Saturday, July 21, 2018. Gay was born in Laurel, Mississippi and grew up in Columbia, Mississippi where she graduated from Columbia High School. She then attended Mississippi State College for Women for two years before moving to Slidell, Louisiana. Gay's career in banking spanned more than four decades where she worked with local businesses as a vice president of commercial lending until she retired. Once retired, she and her husband Dick, along with fur babies Kitty and Ashley, enjoyed traveling all over North America in their motor home. Gay moved to Fairhope, Alabama in 2004 where she was active in the local chapters of Bosom Buddies and the National Federation of Republican Women. Throughout her life she enjoyed the simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, tap dancing and yoga, and DIY projects around the house. She is survived by husband, Richard H. Tennent of Fairhope, AL, his daughter Cynthia K. Rauls of Slidell, LA, and her two daughters, Hope Hickman of Fairhope, AL and Faith Hickman of Slidell, LA. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. The family would like to express their appreciation to Community Hospice, the many nurses and caregivers who lovingly attended to her, and most importantly, to Georgette "Jetta" Sledge Houlson for her compassion, strength and faith. A Celebration of Gay’s life will be held in Slidell, LA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org. Inurnment will be private.
