Gary Klussman

d. September 16, 2020

Gary Klussman was born on July 15, 1941, in Saline County, Missouri to Karl and Erna Klussman. He spent his childhood going to Holy Cross Lutheran School. He then attended Concordia Lutheran High School. He attended the University of Nebraska where he received the MSEE in 1965. While in college, he married Carol Tomandl. Over the years, they had six children: Dennise (Allred), Barry, Corlynn (Raleigh), Erik, Ethan and Joel. Upon graduation, Gary worked for the Engineering Division of Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati. After 15 years at P & G, Gary worked in a variety of Engineering and Management positions in the southeast US. After his divorce Gary met Sandy Moody and they were married in 1997. They lived in Baton Rouge where Gary developed his lifelong affinity for LSU sports. Gary also continued his love of the game of bridge. Upon his retirement in 2009, Gary and Sandy moved to Gulf Shores as they were sure that their extended family were more likely to visit there as opposed to Baton Rouge. In Gulf Shores, Gary was president of the South Alabama Bridge Association, Chair for four Regional Tournaments held on the Gulf Coast, a club level Director. He also enjoyed teaching bridge to anyone who wanted to learn or become better. Gary achieved the rank of Ruby Life Master. Gary and Sandy enjoyed traveling and Gary took pride in his garden and “mini citrus orchard”. In addition to Sandy, Gary leaves behind the families of his children, his twenty grandchildren and one great grandson as well as Sandy’s daughter (Melissa) and her family. To honor the devotion of his wife, Sandy, Gary would like any memorials be sent to either Alabama Coastal Foundation or to the Central Flora-Bama Church where he worshiped for many years. Tentative Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2020.
