Gary "Jaws" R. Eaves

September 25, 1961 — February 17, 2021

Legendary and long-time resident of Seal Beach, California, Gary R. “Jaws” Eaves, joined the collective soul on February 17, 2021 at his home in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with his wife by his side. An immigrant from Newport, Wales, U.K., he became a nationalized citizen in 1976 and was a true patriot and defender of our citizens. A trained Judoka at the Orange County Koda Khan, was one of the youngest to receive his black belt from the head of the Koda Khan Institute in Tokyo, Japan. He eventually became a third degree Sensai, he was a member of the U.S. Judo Federation, Nanka Judo Yudansha-Kai, and others. He became an international open/heavyweight champion that led him to be a U.S. Olympic open/heavyweight Judoka competitor in 1980, and was also open/heavyweight Judoka champion in the California Police Olympics. Gary became a police recruit at Golden West College and served as patrol officer in Beaumont, California. He later transferred to Compton, California Police Department in South Central L.A. and served as F.T.O. where he earned many accolades until he retired. After which, he had his private investigation firms in California, then in Kansas with his son until 2015. Gary’s living on the edge lifestyle led him to become passionate about many activities including but not limited to judo, surfing, motorcycles/motorsports, boating and golf to name a few. His latest passions were jet skiing the Gulf of Mexico and beyond, playing his Les Paul, studying music theory, and drone photography as he loved to fly. Gary, and honorable Sensai and fierce warrior, had a beautiful mind that always had a thirst for knowledge and loved to teach to those who wanted to learn. Gary will always be remembered for his contagious laughter that would shake your soul, his mischievous twinkle in his eyes, and his wicked sense of humor; with a love of irony. A true romantic, he lived and loved hard in truth and justice; ride or die for those he loved and loved him. Always remember Gary for the joy he brought to the table of life...Ich Dien!
