Gary Earl Hodge

Gary Hodge of Manistee, Michigan passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025 in his winter home in Daphne, Alabama, surrounded by his beloved wife and children. He was 90 years old.

Born just outside of Detroit, Gary graduated from Milford High School and completed a scholarship program at Michigan State University. He retired from Numatics Inc after decades of distinguished work in management. He and his wife Doris retired to the woods of Manistee, Michigan and soon found a winter home in Daphne, Alabama.

Gary loved his family and friends and enjoyed many evenings playing cards and telling stories. Gary was an outdoorsman, a hunter and a fisherman, and the time he spent hunting and fishing was truly meditation for him. He loved reading, especially science fiction and mystery. He and Doris loved golf and were long-time members of Manistee Golf and Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Hodge and Mabel (Doherty) Hodge, and his sister Barbara (Hodge) Stallsmith. He is survived by his wife Doris; his children Lisa Hodge Kander, Clint (Jeanine) Hodge, Diane Hodson, Rusty (John Slowik) Lavoy, Roy (Jewel) Fenner; grandchildren Beth (Danny) Kander-Dauphin, Jacob (Jessica) DeYoung Kander, Adam (Jenna Pawlicki) Kander, Claire Kander, Brent (Samantha) Hodge, Felicia (Aaron) Turk, Mitchell (Macy) Hodson, William (Madeline) Hodson, Cherish (Daniel) Parmer, Jack (Jodi) Lavoy, Krystal (Paul) Herman, Maegan Fenner; and great grandchildren

Jude, Lucy, Effie, Matan, Vivian, Malcolm, Sylas, Paxton, Camden, Henley, Ava, Leonidaz, Addy, Asa, Grace, Jason, and Jacob.

A private family gathering preceded cremation. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the charity nearest to your heart.
