Forrest Wesley Mixon

Forrest Wesley Mixon, age 77, a lifelong resident of Foley, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, December 5, 2024.   

Forrest was a graduate of Foley High School (1965) and Troy State University. Forrest was well known in the Foley community for his banking career of over 30 years. But what he was probably best known for in Foley was his infamous 1978 Ford, cream and green pickup truck, parked on the side of the First Alabama Bank building. Forrest loved serving others as their friendly community banker, but he was also known for serving in many other roles throughout Foley, particularly in the Foley schools. Whether it was making loans or building reading tables at Foley Elementary, Forrest never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone.   

Forrest loved his family as well. Forrest leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Deborah Rhodes Mixon; daughters, Kristen Woerner (Jason) of Elberta and Beth Ware (Curtis) of Helena; grandchildren, Charlie Woerner, Gus Woerner, Thad Woerner, Emily Grace Ware; siblings, Sylvia Perry of Huntsville and Walter Mixon (Jacque) of Magnolia Springs.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, O.V. and Hazel Mixon of Foley; brothers Ray Mixon and Thad Mixon.  

The family would like for you to join them for a reception celebration on Sunday, December 29, 2024 between 2-4pm at the Elberta Fireman’s Hall. They ask that family and friends come to visit and share favorite memories of Forrest with one another.
