With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Fleeta Cajacob, a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on September 19, 2020, following a battle with breast cancer and metastatic lung cancer. It would be wrong to say that Fleeta lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Fleeta stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Fleeta met the love of her life, Ted, in 1962 in Kansas City, MO. After dating for only six months, she announced to her family they were getting married. Her sisters thought she was crazy as she hadn’t known him for very long – they wondered how long the marriage would actually last. Ted and Fleeta showed everyone what true love and friendship meant as they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Fleeta lived a full life for 81 years as a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She was raised in Miami, Oklahoma but spent the majority of her life in Arlington, Texas where she worked in the wholesale apparel industry in Dallas, Texas. Her love of the water and beach brought her and Ted to Daphne, Alabama where she spent her time golfing, socializing with friends, enjoying the water and sand at Orange Beach, and volunteering at Thomas Hospital. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus and a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is never in doubt. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing and laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. In true Fleeta form, she left detailed instructions for her husband and daughters to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. She loved her husband and family more than anything and instilled in her daughters the strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Fleeta is survived by her loving husband, Ted, daughters Susan Cajacob of Dallas, Texas and Kimberly Cajacob of Daphne, Alabama, sisters, Mary VanHorn of Houston, Texas, Brenda Ducray (Dean) of Sarasota, Florida; step-grandsons Sean Banks (Tara) of Saraland, Alabama, and Drew Banks of Fairhope, Alabama; nieces, Marcia Olson, Charlotte Siegel, Renee Brechbiel, Michelle Cook Morganosky (Pat) of Houston, Texas, Megan Cook Levy (Aaron) of Wylie, South Carolina and Leslie Cook of New York City, New York along with multiple great nieces and nephews. Fleeta is pre-deceased by her parents, James Edgar and Rachel Cook, brothers Bob Cook and Doug Cook, and sisters, Linda Cook and Clara Fenton-Jones. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Fleeta Cajacob to Anchor Cross Cancer Foundation (www.anchorcrossfoundation.org) which was founded by her most caring and compassionate oncologist, Dr. Michael Meshad.
