Felipe Monreal, age 56, of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at home in Daphne, Alabama. In his brief life, he was a professional welder by trade and produced beautiful wrought iron furniture and artwork. He was famous for his statue of Miguel de Cervantes and beautiful crucifixes. During his lifetime, he served Mexico as a paratrooper in the Mexican Army. He was selected by Mexico to be a bodyguard to President Miguel de la Madrid. He was later a professional wrestler, called El Gitano, the Gypsy, in San Luis Potosi. Born on November 30, 1966, to his father, Felipe Monreal and mother, Maria Izquierdo. He is survived by his loving wife, Angela Trione Crawford; stepson, Jude Crawford; daughters, Maricruz Monreal Perez, Sandra Monreal Perez; sisters, Elena Monreal, Ester Banda; brother-in-law, Eloy Banda; sister, Patricia Moniz; niece, Esmeralda Pat Monreal; along with many other nieces, nephews and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 10:00AM at the Charismatic Episcopal Church, 25566 Friendship Road, Daphne, Alabama.
