Evelyn Wilson Diamond

Evelyn Frances Schilling Wilson Diamond of Fairhope, AL, passed from this mortal life into immortality Wednesday, November 1, 2017. She was the only daughter of Luther Oscar Schilling and Minnie Louise Swain Schilling. She was 97 years old at her passing, having been born Oct. 15, 1920 in Portsmouth, VA. She was a former resident of Baton Rouge, LA, for over 60 years where she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Baton Rouge General Hospital and Lane Memorial Hospital until her retirement.She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers as well as her husbands, Wilbur Percy Wilson and John Peter Diamond, and a grandson. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Brown (Dewey) of Fairhope and Cathlyn Nall of Crossett, AR; 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren 4 great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She loved to fish and put jigsaw puzzles together. She had a great love for music and could always be heard singing or whistling while cleaning or cooking. She played the harmonica & enjoyed playing a harmonica duet as part of the church Christmas program this past year. Her quest for learning never ceased. She learned to use a computer in her 70’s, and how to play a dulcimer in her 80’s. She never met a stranger and was loved by anyone who ever met her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit. She was a faithful member of Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church and instilled a love for the Savior in her children by example, as well as by precept. She leaves a legacy of that love for those who will follow. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2017, in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of funeral service.
