Ella Cortland Goodyear, 56, died peacefully in her home in Fairhope, Alabama, on May 12, 2024.
Ella was born on June 5, 1967, and grew up in Covington, Louisiana. She was fun, fashionable, and artistic with a great sense of humor. She earned her BA from Newcomb College, Tulane University, in 1989 and she enjoyed life in several cities after college, including New Orleans, Aspen, and Washington, D.C. Ella then attended Tulane Law School, graduating cum laude and number six in her class in 1994. From there, she spent her law career in New Orleans and New York City and was a survivor of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.
Ella was a world traveler, spending time in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and all four corners of the United States.
Ella is preceded in death by her father, David L. Goodyear, and survived by her longtime friend, John Watts, her mother and stepfather, Sally and Daniel Johnson, her sisters, Mimi Goodyear Dossett (Bill) and Julie Goodyear Walker (Hudson), her niece, four nephews, and many great friends and relatives.
She will be buried in a private ceremony.
