On Saturday, May 4, 2024, Elizabeth “Anne” East Newman went to heaven. She was a great mother and friend to all she touched and will be greatly missed.
Anne retired from the Fairhope Police Department where she always enjoyed “telling the officers where to go!” She was a great patriot being involved with the American Legion, VFW, and the Elks Lodge throughout the years. Her favorite song was God Bless the U.S.A. by Lee Greenwood. She also enjoyed raising funds and awareness for the Ronald McDonald House. Her passions in life included enjoying her grand and great grandchildren, watching Nascar, and LSU football. Her heart was as big as the world, and she would do anything for anyone. She was a great inspiration to each person she touched.
She was preceded in death by her father, Issac Young East, her mother, Winifred Montgomery East and her husband Raymond Newman.
She is survived by her daughters Paula “DeDe” Newman and Vicki Newman Begnaud, four grandchildren, Brook Middleton, Shelby Richmond, Bailey Shelby, and Mia Begnaud; six great-grandchildren, Jayden, Alayna, Summer, Reese, Rylan, and Noah.
There will be a private service for the family on a later date at the Young Family Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana.
To honor Anne Newman’s memory, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Ryan Newman’s Rescue Ranch.
