Elinor Glynn Simmons went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 in Fairhope Alabama. She was born to Kenneth Ivey and Mamie Fortenberry Simmons on August 20, 1927. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She was born and raised near Osyka, Ms. She was a country girl at heart since her dad (K.I.) loved the great outdoors. In her late teens, her older sisters having left home, she cared for her invalid mother who passed away when Elinor was in her 20s. She went on to marry and raise a family in Bremen GA. Elinor always enjoyed socializing, and as such developed many lifelong friendships through the years. Elinor was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Bremen GA for many years, and for the past 15 years, First Baptist Church of Fairhope. She loved the lord and put her trust in him throughout her life allowing her to persevere life’s challenges. She was a remarkably strong, yet gentle woman and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Elinor is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth Ivey and Mamie Simmons, her former husband Norman C Simmons Jr., three sisters, Kathleen (Alfred) Morgan, Miriam (Tommy) Fanning and Pauline (JW) Dogette, son-in-law George (Sonny) Turner Jr. She is survived by her three children, Gayle Simmons, Eileen Simmons Turner and Rome (Michele) Simmons; three grandchildren, Lauren Turner, Justin (Natalie) Simmons, Jason Price; four great grandchildren; Parker and Barrett Simmons, Jack and Ryan Price. Devoted nephews and nieces: Randy (Cindy) Doggette, Al (Debbie) Morgan, Glynn (Pat) Laconsay, Kathy (Terry) Lartigue, and Kenny Fanning, as well as other cherished family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 4pm Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Fairhope United Methodist church and dinner immediately following at Fairhope First Baptist Church (1/2 mile away at 300 South Section Street).
