Dr. Stephen L. Coleman

Stephen Lanier Coleman, age 75, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022.

Born the 5^th of November in 1946, Dr. Coleman was a native of Luverne, Alabama, and proud member of the LHS Class of 1965, went on to Vanderbilt, the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, and the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. He entered the private practice of gastroenterology in Birmingham where he practiced for 30 years prior to moving to Fairhope, Alabama for another 11 years of practice. Following semi-retirement, he practiced part-time in Luverne.

Dr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Neal Coleman, Jr. and Ina Williams Coleman, and brother Dr. Henry Neal Coleman III.

He is survived by wife, Betsy Coleman; sons, Benjamin (Molly) and Hunter of Birmingham, and Neal (Rebecca) of Huntsville; stepdaughter Kit Hunter of Fairhope; nephew, Trenton Coleman; and niece Judith Coleman of Chicago; grandchildren, Sam, Ruby, Henry, Catherine, Gavin Wright; and sister-in-law, Imogene Coleman.

A graveside Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 16, 2022, at 4:00pm at Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, AL.
