Dr. Joseph "Mike" Michael McKean

Dr. Joseph Michael “Mike” McKean A native of Mobile died on January 23, 2019 was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Louis Leonard (Margaret) McKean, Sr. and brothers Louis Leonard McKean, Jr and Francis Jerrold "Jerry" McKean, Sr. and Nancy Chalmers Stevens, mother of Michelle. He is survived by his wife of 12 years Karen Koppersmith McKean, children Michelle (Charles) Shreve, of Dallas, TX, Tory (Michelle) McKean, brother Patrick "Pat" Roy McKean, granddaughter Grayson McKean as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends including his life long friend of 77 years, Jimmy Wallace, Panama Beach, FL.  Mike attended Leinkauf Elementary School and Murphy High School. He graduated from Spring Hill College where he was a member of the Army ROTC. Before graduating from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry he worked as a chemist with Ciba Geigy and served in the Army. Dr McKean practiced dentistry for 53 years and was a lifelong member of the Alabama Dental Association . "Doc" was an avid golfer, duck hunter and Charter Member of the Red Elephant Club. He was known by all as a Character with a capital "C". He loved his children and they loved him. Memorial Mass Celebration will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30,2019. Visitation will be held prior to Mass beginning at 10:00 a.m.  He will be missed by all.
