Douglas Andrew Bailey passed away on October 5th, 2024, with his loving children by his side. Doug was born on June 1st, 1967 in Fairhope, Alabama. He was a graduate of Fairhope High School, The University of South Alabama, and Auburn University. He was a lifelong resident of Daphne.
Doug lived his life as a loving husband, father, brother, and son. He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 31 years Miriam Hairston Bailey, and his parents, Ada Faye Bailey and Clanton William Bailey. He is survived by his two adoring children Mary Catherine Bailey and William Hannon Bailey (Caroline), his brothers, Randy G. Bailey (Cindy), Steven C. Bailey, his wonderful nieces, Darcy Sowers, Traci Pharr, and Shana Bailey-Stull, his nephew, Drew Bailey, and his many great nieces and nephews.
Doug was devoted to his career as a Civil Engineer and Project Manager. He worked at HMR Engineering for over 20 years, and then GMC Engineering. He then transitioned to working as the Utilities Engineer Manager for the city of Gulf Shores. He was passionate and highly involved in community affairs and participated in many local initiatives all over Baldwin County. He enjoyed coaching for his children’s sports teams, participating in scout campouts, and would travel near and far to see his daughter’s volleyball games. He and his son spent countless weekends fishing and enjoying time together on Mobile Bay. He and his daughter had a shared passion for music and attended many concerts together. Doug also enjoyed working with his hands and spent a lot of his free time working on various home renovation projects. He was known for being the household handyman, car repair man, and was always willing to help his family and friends.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep gratitude the kindness and compassion of friends and family throughout this year.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculata Center, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, October 12, 2024. The family will be receiving people at the Bailey home following the graveside.
