Dorothy Christine Bung, age 89, a native of Wisconsin and a longtime resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024. Dorothy’s working career began at Johnson’s Wax in Racine, Wisconsin where she was a switchboard operator, tour guide and advertising model for Johnson’s revolutionary Jubilee floor wax. Here she met many interesting and notable personalities including famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright and television and radio entertainer Red Skelton. After moving to Fairhope in 1969, Dorothy pursued the printing and graphic arts industry at the Fairhope Courier and Poser Printing before transitioning to her favorite and most rewarding position as Office Manager at Medical Park OBGYN. Dorothy enjoyed living the Southern lifestyle. Some of her favorite memories of living in the South include boating, water skiing, and fishing the waters of Mobile Bay, Fish River and the Gulf. She had a special knack for baking and her family was always blessed with freshly baked desserts, daily. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church Fairhope where she enjoyed many years of serving with “First Hope,” ministering to the hearts and needs of others in the community. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Gladys Deininger, and her husband of 68 years, Gerald “Jerry” Lyle Bung. Survivors include her children, Wayne (Jody) Bung and Susan (Donald/Don) Hill, Jr; granddaughter Jennifer (Justin) Cecil; great granddaughter Charlotte Cecil, and many other relatives and friends. Her family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at The Brennity (Fairhope and Daphne) for the loving attention they gave her in the last 18 months. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 22, 2024, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Chapel, 19698 S. Greeno Rd., Fairhope, AL 36532. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM.
