Dorie Lee Fay

Dorie M. Fay, 1945-2018 Dorie M. Fay, 72, of Marietta, Ga., and Gulf Shores, Ala., died in the early morning hours of Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, with her loving husband, Paul W. Fay Jr., by her side. Born in Spring Hill, Tenn., on Sept. 25, 1945, she was a wife, mother, grandmother, cousin and devoted friend. Dorie believed in the people around her. If they were hungry, she wanted them fed. If they were sad, she wanted them happy. She often said she worked because she had to, but her job traveling for the State of Alabama allowed her to visit far-flung friends who became more like family. In retirement, she made new friends wherever she went and found her church home at Central Flora-Bama Church. She also showered her grandchildren with enough love to last their entire lifetimes. Dorie had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and those who knew her would often catch her making an effort to breathe. Whenever someone saw her taking a pause, she flashed a big smile and said everything was OK. Dorie’s determination and concern for others never wavered. She is survived by her husband, Paul W. Fay Jr. of Marietta, Ga., and Gulf Shores, Ala.; her children, Michael Scott Morris (Michaela) of Tupelo, Miss.; Melissa Morris Greene (Adam) of Newnan, Ga.; Danny Fay (Tiffany) of Cleveland, Tenn., and  Dyon Fay Duncan (Todd) of Monroe, Ga.;  and her grandchildren,  Travis, Mallory and Carson Greene, Olivia and Evan Morris, Alexis and Conner Fay, and Zoe and Calie Duncan. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley, Ala.
