Donald E. Abernathy

Donald Edward Abernathy passed away on December 21, 2021 at his home in Daphne, AL. Donald was born in Montgomery, AL to George Edward and Dora McFarland Abernathy. After graduation from Sidney Lanier High School, Don married Carolyn Weston, joined the US Air Force and served four years at the former Gary Air Force Base in San Marcos, TX attaining the rank of sergeant. Upon discharge, Don graduated from the University of Alabama. Don and Carolyn lived in Atlanta for more than twenty years. After a long career in sales and sales management they retired to Stillwaters on Lake Martin, Dadeville, AL. Don was preceded in death by Carolyn and is survived by his wife Leann; sons, James Michael (Debbie), Robert (Laura), Donna Rydquist (Dean); niece, Suzanne Brock Johnson (Terry); five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one great niece. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on January 1, 2022 at East Pointe Baptist, 34742 AL 225, Spanish Fort, AL 36527. A private burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, AL.
