Dianne Word Neibling, daughter of William B. and Dorothy Alonzo Word, passed away at Westminster Village, Monday, July 17, 2017. She was born on 3 January, 1940 in Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from Murphy High School, where she was affiliated with the Delta Beta Sigma Sorority. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Dianne married Robert C. Neibling in Mobile on 13 August, 1960 and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. Following Bob’s career in Civil Service with the Air Force, the Neiblings lived briefly in San Antonio, Texas; Springfield, Virginia and Montgomery, Alabama before retiring to Gulf shores, Alabama in 1989. She and her husband moved from Craft Farms to Westminster Village in 2015. While living in Montgomery, Dianne was employed as an office manager for an advertising firm. In their retirement years, Dianne enjoyed the pleasures of living on Little Lagoon, traveling with her husband and visiting most of the National Parks in the United Stated. Dianne was also an active member of two civic organizations and was a faithful volunteer for Habitat For Humanity. She was honored in 2014 as Volunteer of the Year for Baldwin County. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Deborah Lynn and her brothers, Robert B. Word, William B. Word II and Charles E. Word. She is survived by her husband, Bob; her nieces, Leslie Word (Beazer) McMichael, Suzanne Word (Spencer) Davis, Amanda Word (Dylan) McCain, Darleen Word (Jim) Solvason; nephews, Charles Dana (Barbara) Word, Byron Dennis (Marlene) Word; her loving cousins, Nancy Langmaid, William (Jeri) H. Harrison, III, Shannon (Steve) Chamberlin, Ann (Alfred) Cowley; her God-daughters, Therese (Jeff) Wesley, Jacqueline (Jay) Stembridge; nephews, Chris, Shawn and Keinn Fawl of Phoenix, Arizona. Diane was an inspiration to the end. She accepted the fateful diagnosis with her abiding faith, grace and courage. The volume of cards and letters she received during her final days are a testament to the many friendships she made throughout her seventy-seven years. God Bless To You All!! A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Our Lady of The Gulf Catholic Church in Gulf Shores, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of the Mass. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dianne’s memory to a charity of your choice.
