Dr. Diane Camilleri, of Foley, Alabama died Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was born in 1946 in New York City.
Diane’s many achievements included graduate of NYU, School of Arts and Science, a Master of Arts and Science degree also from NYU and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. Her veterinary practice began at an animal shelter in New York City, after which she became a Professor of Veterinary Technology at City University of New York.
Upon her retirement, Diane and her husband John moved to Florence, Alabama in the year 2000 where they opened a bookstore and became members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Six years later they moved to Live Oak Village in Foley, Alabama continuing their book business.
Diane is survived by her husband of 25 years, John Soderberg; brother, Peter Camilleri (Barbara) of South Carolina.
Together, Diane and John shared their passion for world travel, visiting 6 continents where they touched and were touched by the lives of many people. Nineteen cross Atlantic voyages on The Queen Mary 2 are a testament to their love of travel. When not traveling, you might find Diane tending to her garden as a Master Gardener, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity or cuddling with Penny and Shelly her beloved cats.
Diane had unwavering loyalty and love for her husband John, affection for her sisters-in-law, Margaret Soderberg, Mary Eagle, Ingrid Hansen, Ann Klein and special friendships with Eddy Bouderaux, Nancy Warner Lloyd, and Myrna Rivas.
A celebration of Diane’s life is being planned.
