Dennis Frank Potten

Dennis Frank Potten, 74, of Foley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, surrounded by family and close friends.
Born in Queens, New York, Dennis was the son of the late Eugene and Katherine Potten (Koenderman). He grew up in Landing, New Jersey, graduating from Roxbury High School in 1968 before attending Millikin University and the University of Southern Maine. In 1973, he made Champaign, Illinois, his home for over four decades before relocating to Foley in 2014.
A devoted University of Illinois sports fan, Dennis followed Fighting Illini football and basketball with passion. He was also a lifelong car enthusiast, owning dozens of vehicles over the years.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Rosellen Bohlen, whom he married on July 29, 2000. He is also survived by his children, Timothy McCollough Potten (Isabel) and Rebecca Marie Wells (Corey), and his grandchildren, Olivia, Aiden, Katherine, and Elijah.
He leaves behind his sisters, Cathy Patrie (David) and Linda Pilch (James), and was preceded in death by his siblings, Eugene Potten (Daleta), Fred Pisorchik Jr. (Georgeanne), and Susan Lumbert (Delbert).
Through his marriage to Rosellen, Dennis gained the loving extended family of Anna Bendiksen (Aage) and their son Johan, and Paul Primrose (Kathryn) and their children, Max, and Sullivan.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 20, at 2:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 506 N. Pine Street, Foley, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made in Dennis’s honor to Children Change Colombia, an organization dedicated to empowering and protecting at-risk children in Colombia, South America. Tax-deductible donations from the United States can be made HERE, or by clicking the logo below.
