Dennis Joseph Blackmon

Dennis Joseph Blackmon, age 80, a resident of Silverhill, AL, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022.

He was a longtime member and Deacon of Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church; he was currently attending Heritage Church.

Mr. Blackmon was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Blackmon and son, Donald Blackmon.

He is survived by his children, Dennis “Joe” Blackmon, II (Patricia), Douglas “Doug” Blackmon (Kathy), Daniel Blackmon (Kelly) and Dawn Harris; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Ann Bruner,(Larry) and many other relatives and friends.

Dennis was a hard working husband, father, father-in-law, papa, brother, son, and uncle. He worked for different companies as a computer programmer and systems analyst. He retired in 2002 and took up many hobbies. His hobbies included fast cars and wood working. Dennis and his wife Ann built a shop in their back yard that he used for his wood working projects. He built various pieces of furniture for his children and grandchildren. Dennis also made canes. He sold a few but gave away many more to strangers in passing. He was a great story teller. Great fort builder. And never turned any sweets especially donuts, from Licking Good Donuts.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Visitation will begin at 1:00 until time of service.

Interment will follow funeral service at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
