Deborah Elaine Overbea, daughter of Julia Lloyd Overbea and the late Daniel Dorsey Overbea, crossed over to the spirit world at her home, with her bible by her side, on Sunday, November 17, 2024. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on the 23th of October, 1950; she was the second daughter of three. She moved to Fairhope, Alabama, where her Mother retired and where her sister lived.
She was baptized at the Roman Catholic at St. Dominics Church in Chicago, and attended St. Dominic's and St. Joseph's elementary schools until high school, where she graduated from Waller High School. She as a gifted artist, winning a city wide competition and honored at Chicago's McCormick Place. She taught Art at Stanton Park District in Chicago for years, and was the Recreation Director.
She was kind, good hearted, a quiet listener, quick to smile and loved cooking and playing Dominos and Bid Whist. She was the calm in the storm. She was also very active in her community, working with children and their parents.
She leaves to cherish her memory by her beloved daughter, Naetasha "Tash" Benard, and her grandson, Carlos Benard. Deborah is also survived by her mother, Julia Lloyd Overbea; sister, Mary Kelley of Fairhope, with whom she maintained a close bond; her sister,Donna Overbea Blunt (John) of Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania; , and her nephew, Julian Blount; her devoted best friend, Tina Tate; a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
