Clarence "Bearl" Blocker

BLOCKER BAY MINETTE Col Clarence Bearl Blocker, USAF (Ret), 92, died on 12/01/2020 in Bay Minette, AL, following a long illness. Known to family and friends as “Bearl”, he was born on 3/15/1928 to Henry Jesse and Bunah Blocker in Babbie, AL, the middle of 3 children. Upon graduating from Georgianna High School, Bearl immediately joined the Army Air Corp as a private. He retired from the Air Force at Kessler AFB in 1983. Bearl married the love of his life, Elise Sapp, in 1949. She preceded him in death in 2015. Bearl and Elise have 3 children-Janice Blocker Yoder (Byron Yoder), Dr Richard Blocker (Tricia Knaack), and Carol Anne B Watson (Dr Kelly Watson) all of whom survive him. His beloved sister, Betty Sue Bulger of Eufaula, AL, also survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Earl Blocker and by his eldest grandchild, Leslie Paige Yoder duMont. Surviving grandchildren are Zane Yoder II of Fairhope, AL, and Deidre Blocker Fitzpatrick (Simon Fitzpatrick) of Sydney, Australia. Great grandchildren are Melanie E DuMont (Simon Mansfield) of New Orleans, Zane B Yoder III (Tre’) of Fairhope, Harrison and Rowan Fitzpatrick of Sydney. Honorary grandchildren are Sebastian and Kayla Yoder. Bearl is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Burial will be the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 11:00 am. Those attending the graveside service will gather at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home Daphne Chapel by 10:00am prior to procession to the cemetery. No flowers can be accepted.
