Clarence Artie “Art” Dillman, age 83, a resident of Foley, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Art served his country in the US Air Force, the US Navy Reserve and the Indiana Army National Guard for a total 27 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. During his service in the INARNG he received the Indiana Commendation Medal and membership in the Indiana Regiment of Militia. Art was a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, serving in both the Daniel Guthrie Chapter and the General Galvez Chapter. Art’s membership was based on his descent from two great-grandfathers that fought in the American Revolution. Art served a term as President of the General Galvez Chapter and received several awards from the ALSAR, including the Roger Sherman Medal. After retirement, he did a lot of volunteer work. He spent many hours at the Naval Museum in Pensacola, FL, logging in photos and cataloging artifacts. He was an active participant with the Conventions of States and as an RV’er for many years, he did volunteer work at most of the campsites. He is survived by his wife, Agnes I. Toby Dillman; daughter, Sandra (Albert) Hice; sons, David (Beth) Dillman, Spencer, IN, Clarence A. Dillman, Jr., Florence KY, Darrin (Laurie) Dillman, Cloverdale, IN; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 23, 2023 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home Chapel, Foley. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the chapel service. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM, at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL with Military Honors provided by the US Army.
