Clara Williams

Clara was born and raised in Potash, Alabama. After graduating from Woodland High School, she moved to Atlanta to attend secretarial school. She enlisted in the Air Force where she met and married her husband, Deane. They spent 26 years in the military stationed in Alaska, New York, Guam, Japan, Vietnam, Washington, and California. Eventually retiring from the USAF and settling down in Daphne, Alabama where they raised their two daughters, Kathleen and Audrey. Clara had 6 grandchildren, Courtney, Ryan and Kristen Damico of TX, and Luke, Hope, and Elli Kvamme of TN. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Cleveland Deane Williams. Her parents, Lillian and Will Baldwin, her sisters, Irene, Marie and Allene, and her brothers Clinton, Elmon and Cauthon. Clara is survived by her daughters Kathleen Damico(Andy) of Richmond TX, and Audrey Kvamme(Peter) of Knoxville, TN, granddaughters Courtney, Kristen, Hope, and Elli, and grandsons Ryan and Luke. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Deborah Lesueur(Larry),of Centre, AL and brothers Wallace Baldwin(Barbara) of Auburn, AL and Pierce Baldwin(Jane) of Arrington, TN. Clara enjoyed friendships in masonic organizations including The Order of the Amarath, the Daughter’s of the Nile, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a long-time member of St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne where she volunteered in the church thrift shop, worked on the altar guild and was an enthusiastic member of the Cursillo movement. Clara was a lover of all sports, especially Alabama Crimson Tide football and Pittsburgh Penguins hockey. Clara’s favorite hobby for all of her life was reading. As a kid growing up, she would often hide under her bed so that she could read undisturbed. Clara enjoyed nothing more than drinking a cup of hot tea and reading a good book. She enjoyed watching action & adventure movies, especially ones starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. She was a passionate collector of angels and crosses. She was loved by many and will be terribly missed, especially by her daughters who were blessed with the kindest and most loving mother. A celebration of her life will be held graveside at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 8th, at the Fairhope Memory Gardens on Greeno Road in Fairhope, Alabama. The Reverend Thack Dyson will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
