Chhong An Ung passed away on April 6th, 2020, at the age of 75. She is survived by her loving and loyal husband, Kay Ou Wing. They have been married for over 60 years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Ly Ung, son in law Chee Seng Ng, grandchildren Connie and Kevin Ng; daughter Bouy Keith, son in law Bill Keith, grandson Steven Chin; daughter Hear Ung, grandchildren Melanie and Richard Lim; and daughter Kim Ung, son in law Xiao Peng Cai, grandson James Cai, granddaughter- in-law-Ruili Lin, grandson David Cai, and great grandchildren Aria and Bryson Cai. Her and her husband owned a well-known Chinese restaurant, New South China, in Daphne, Alabama for years before retiring in 2007. Many will remember them for their wonderful hospitality and a kitchen that introduced a whole town to the wonders of their talent for international cuisine. She will be dearly missed by her family and community and her loss will be felt internationally as she was known for her love of travelling. Having been to over 20 countries and having friends and family everywhere she went, her love and generosity has spread to the four corners of the earth and now beyond. “The fairy crane escapes from its cage so you can fly wherever you will.
