Mrs. Levite known as “Sissy or Cheryl Beth” to her closest friends and family led a life of travel and wonderment with regards to world history, arts and antiques. She was an interior designer and owned an antiques store for many years near their home in Old Town Alexandria, Va. One of her favorite travel destinations was Barbados where she and her devoted husband of 55 years, maintained a second home. Cheryl set the perfect example of “a life well lived.” She was the consummate hostess and insisted on using her fine silver and china at every meal-much to the chagrin of her husband and son who had to handwash everything. Mrs. Levite was preceded in death by her father, WWII veteran Richard L. Knapp, mother, Mary Elizabeth Knapp and brother Richard L. Knapp, Jr., LtCol, USAF. She is survived by her husband Maurice R. Levite of Mobile, AL and son, David M. Levite currently of Gulfport, FL. She also is survived by many family and friends including her favorite Aunt Phyllis Huddleston, cousins Anna and Drew Alexander, and Mrs. Gloria Nettles, her faithful companion of many years as well as her two precious pets Scarlett and Faerie both Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Cheryl and Maurice moved to Mobile after Maurice retired and bought a beautiful home on Government Street in what she described as “the best neighborhood in Mobile!” Cheryl was past president of the Bienville Republican Club and a current member of the DAR. Mass intentions at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Mobile, AL will include Cheryl on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 12:10 pm.
