NETTLES-DEPEW SILVERHILL, ALABAMA Memama July 20, 1941 - February 19, 2022 Charlotte Ann Nettles passed peacefully in her sleep on February 19, 2022 in the early morning hours holding hands with her loved ones. In the past few weeks and days she has been comforted by her children, grandchildren, and close family. Charlotte was born in Baker, Louisiana on July 20, 1941. She graduated from Baker High School and was Queen of Carnival 1959. She married her high school sweetheart, David Edgar Nettles, on September 23, 1960. “Charry” and David were members of the First Baptist Church in Baker and became parents of five. They lived in Orlando, FL for many years after their children were grown, and eventually moved to Fairhope, AL when their first grandchild was born. Charlotte has resided near family in Fairhope, AL for the last 27 years. Charlotte was married to David for 45 years before his death in 2006 after a battle with cancer. She married Bill Depew in 2009, who lost his battle with cancer just 4 months ago. “Memama” as she was lovingly referred to by family, was preceded in death by her parents, Clyola Mae Nettles and Parker Lee Nettles, her son, Tyrone David Nettles, husband of 45 years, David Edgar Nettles III, brother Parker Lee Nettles Jr., granddaughter Gabrielle Nyssa Nettles, and husband of 13 years, Bill Depew. Memama had no greater love than her family. She leaves behind her children: a daughter, Donna Jackson (Steve), three sons, Troy David Nettles (Pam), Ashley Dean Nettles, and Dustin Joel Nettles; 7 Grandchildren: Canden Bliss Jackson, Stephan Grey Jackson, Mason Dean Nettles, Reagan Mckenzie Nettles, Parker James Nettles, Emmerson Kate Nettles, Gentry Alise Nettles, Chandler Grace and two great grandchildren. She leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law in Liberty, MS, Bill and Connie Nettles and many dear nieces and nephews. What made Memama the happiest was seeing her children and grandchildren succeed. She beamed with pride when telling others all about how beautiful, handsome, smart and successful they all are. She loved good food, good music, loved to dance, and one of the highlights of her last few years was a personal FaceTime call with her favorite musical artist, Englebert Humperdinck. Charlotte was surrounded by her children and close family. We are thankful she was finally able to rest and breathe easy as she joined the Lord. She would have been 81 years old this year.
