Charlie J. Kohoutek, a native of Cudahy, Wisconsin, and resident of Fairhope, AL, died April 10, 2022, the date of his 72nd wedding anniversary. He was at home at his beloved “Hunkie Hill”, where he has resided since 1924, when his Czech parents settled in Fairhope. He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine, on March 15, 2022, and by his son, Charlie Kohoutek Jr. Survivors include his daughters, Jo Ann Styron and Charlene (Frank) Henning; granddaughters Wendy (Ken) Styron, Hollie (Victor) Gilman, Mimi and Elizabeth Henning; great grandsons Jarrett and Colby Styron. In August of 1944, he was drafted and sent to Germany where he drove a tank and became a platoon leader in General Patton’s Third Army. After retiring from Pensacola Naval Air Station, he enjoyed throwing a cast net for fish and shrimp, riding a tractor, planting a vegetable garden, mowing grass, and an afternoon happy hour. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where he was a lifelong member, on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in the St. Lawrence Room at 10:00 a.m. There will be a private burial at Belforest Catholic Cemetery.
