Charles Walter Wilson, age 91 of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away surrounded by his family on November 6, 2023. Born and raised in Spanish Fort, Charles married the love of his life, Jean Wilson in 1954. Charles is an Atomic Veteran and proudly served his Country with the Navy from 1948-1952. During this time, he was stationed in the Pacific at Enewetak Atoll aboard the USS Conserver. The Atoll was used for nuclear testing and 43 nuclear bombs were fired from 1948 to 1958. His stories from experiencing these bombs will never be forgotten. After his time in the Navy, Charles returned to Spanish Fort and married his loving wife Jean and started a family. Charles began his civilian career at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile. Upon the closing of Brookley, Charles spent the rest of his career at Eglin Air Force Base in procurement for 37 years until retirement. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and racing trucks in mud races. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family and dear friends. Charles is survived by his two daughters, Cindy Wilson Daugherty of Fairhope, AL, Angela Sparks and her husband Lee Sparks of Crestview, FL. His grandchildren, Matthew Judy (Loni) of Fairhope, AL, Lance Judy of Birmingham, AL, Anne Marie Daugherty of Fairhope, AL, Gus Daugherty of Fairhope, AL, Leanne Sparks of Oceanside, CA. Two great grandchildren, Rhett and Rose Judy, along with many other members and dear friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Wilson, his parents Bryant and Martha Wilson, siblings, JB Wilson, Bobby Wilson, Earl Wilson and Louise Dahlen. Services will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 at 12:30pm until 1:30pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne, AL. A graveside service at 2:00pm at Wilson Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL. A celebration of life lunch will be held immediately following graveside at the Blue Gill Restaurant on the causeway.
