Charles Edward Thomas was born October 21, 1935, and passed away October 8, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha, of 62 years; his daughter, Rhonda Brantley; and his parents, Lola Thomas (Emmanuel) Zaphiris and Hubert Thomas. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jennifer (Kelly) Drew; his son-in-law, Mike Brantley; his grandchildren: Shelley (Ryan) Rasinen, Jaime (Bruce) Smith, Joseph (Kasey) Drew, and Stacey (Stefan) Wolf; his ten great-grandchildren; his brother, Ronald (Betty) Thomas; and his sister, Louise Thomas Dukes.
Charles was born in Evergreen, Alabama, and was a graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama. After high school he served in the Air Force. He married his sweetheart, Martha, in 1961. He was a devoted husband to Martha and father to Rhonda and Jennifer. He worked for the state banking department and retired from there after a career in finance. Charles worked hard to provide a good life for his wife and daughters and was immensely proud of his family. An avid Alabama fan, he was especially delighted to see all four of his grandchildren graduate from there. Charles enjoyed bass fishing and golfing. Living with conviction and never afraid to speak his mind, Charles leaves behind a legacy of strength, determination, and deep love for his family.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 10th at 3:00 p.m. at Jubilee Memorial Gardens on Hwy 181 in Daphne, Alabama.
