Charles James Roppolo

Charles James Roppolo (1935-2018)Fairhope, AL – Charles Roppolo, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Fairhope on November 20, 2018.Charles “Jimmy” was born in Gadsden, Alabama and raised in Pensacola, Florida. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Charles Anthony Roppolo and Ethel Alice Anchors, and his son, Raymond Anthony Roppolo. He is survived by his sister, Virginia “Ginger” Williams; brother, Webb Anchors; daughter’s Stephanie Roppolo and Virginia Roppolo Stimpson (John L.); and 4 grandsons, Benjamin Stimpson, Sheppard Stimpson, John Stimpson, JR and Charles Murphy. Charles proudly served in the United States Navy for 6 years. After receiving an honorable discharge, he moved to Washington, DC where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science from George Washington University and a law degree from George Mason University. He worked for ABC News for 15 years moving into corporate law. He proudly served in the White House Press Corp during his tenure with ABC News, traveling with President Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon, while witnessing many historic and cultural events. After practicing law and raising his 3 children he moved to Costa Rica and created an electronics manufacturing company, Camtronics. Upon retirement in 2002 he moved to Mobile, AL to be closer to his family and his favorite college team, the Alabama Crimson Tide.   Charles will be remembered most for the deep love of his family, his love of country, profound knowledge of Alabama football and acerbic wit. His family would like to thank the administration and staff at Thomas Hospital and the Thomas Hospital Cancer Center as well as the kind and endearing staff at The Brennity in Fairhope for the excellent care and support he received. Visitation and a memorial service will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, at 5:00pm in Fairhope, Alabama. A grave side service will be held at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida, Saturday, November 24th, 10:00am.
