Charles Joseph Rice, 87, a native of Point Clear, AL and a resident of Belforest, AL, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020. He was ordained as a Pastor at Point Clear Baptist Church and was a member of Spanish Trail Baptist Church. He served his country in the US Navy on the destroyer USS Yarnall. Following his military service, he graduated from Piney Point Merchant Marine Academy in Maryland and worked for over forty years as Chief Engineer at Mobile Bay Towing. More than anything else, he was a dedicated and loving husband, nurturing father and the best PawPaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He’s most known for his fables of Jake the Snake, which kept any child in the bed, and Bloody Bones, which kept the small ones out of the barn. What he desired most is that his family love and serve the Lord. Surviving are four sons, Charles Anthony Rice (Jackie), Joseph Barry Rice (Fran), John Daniel Rice, Scott Armstrong Rice (Leigh); one daughter, Marcia Rice Stabler (Stan); ten grandchildren; Jeremy Rice, Hillirie Lindquist, Ashley Lieb, Lee Day, Zachary Rice, Lindsay Hawley, Shannon Bane, Joey Stabler, Jacob Rice and Emilie Rice and twenty-four great-grandchildren; one brother, Chester Rice; four sisters, Dorothy Medynski; Evelyn Odom (Johnny); Ruth Provencher; Margaret Roy (Charles); nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Ralph Rice and Florence Broughton Rice; brothers, Ray Rice, John Rice and Melvin Rice; Sister, Mary Dichiara. The family will receive friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, Thursday, October 8, 2020, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral, Fairhope, Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 2:00pm. Brother Grant Barber will officiate the celebration of life.
