Charles H. McDaniel September 16, 1945 – October 25, 2022 Charles Harold “Chuck” McDaniel, age 77, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022. He was born September 16, 1945 in Cairo, Georgia to Frances Louise Tillman and Eldon Leroy McDaniel, Sr. After graduating from high school he moved to Pensacola, Florida where he attended Pensacola State College and earned his bachelor’s degree from University of West Florida. He served in the army from 1969 to 1971, stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. After moving to Jackson, Mississippi in 1974, he opened Skipper’s Dive & Ski Shop. Chuck was employed by Scubapro, a diving product manufacturer, from 1976 until 2001. Diving was his passion. Although he dove in many places all over the world, he always came home to his favorite dive spots in the Gulf of Mexico. He loved spearfishing and always came back with the largest snapper. Moving to Orange Beach in 1994, he continued his love of diving. After retirement, he became a licensed home builder, McDaniel Builders, and built custom homes on Ono Island and Orange Beach. He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Barbara McDaniel; son, Chip McDaniel (Ramsey) of Santa Monica, California; daughter, Kelly Shea McDaniel, Milton, Florida: step-daughter, Collette Cummins, Chicago, Illinois; step-son, Chris (Colleen) Cummins, Bend, Oregon; two grandchildren, Ryder McDaniel, Avery McDaniel, Santa Monica, California. And various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mac McDaniel, Pace, Florida and sister, Bonnie Fuller, Pensacola, Florida.
