Carolyn Matchett

Carolyn Foster Matchett, age 80, a resident of Daphne passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021. Carolyn was a registered nurse who loved caring for others. She loved and was treasured by her family, and she adored her dog, Chip. Carolyn was an active member of the Sunflower Sunday School Class at Eastern Shore Baptist Church. She had a fondness for the beach, was active at the Y. M. C. A., was a keen gardener, and an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her father, James Sylvester Foster; her mother, Laura Ethel Foster; and a sister, Lorene “Tink” Phillips. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Marion “Cotton” Matchett of Daphne; devoted sons Eddie Joe Matchett of Okeechobee, Florida, and Chuck (Anita) Matchett of Daphne, Alabama; two loving grandchildren Tab Foster Matchett and Lauren “Kate” Matchett; and her brother, James Sylvester (Doris) Foster, Jr. of Graniteville, South Carolina. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne Chapel with the family receiving visitors an hour before the service. Interment to follow at Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice in Carolyn’s name.
