Mary “Carolyn” Hafner, age 79, a resident of Daphne, AL, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Carolyn served for more than 30 years as a Judicial Assistant in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, GA until she retired in her hometown of Daphne. Prior to that, she worked overseas with the Corps of Engineers in France and the Mobile Press Register.
A multi-talented painter, needle-pointer and crafter, she was also an avid supporter of the arts, often volunteering at the High Museum and the Fox Theater in Atlanta.
She was adored by many and will be remembered for her joie de vivre, sparkling wit and ability to share an easy laugh with everyone. An ardent animal lover, she was almost never without a dog in her lap and her life could be referenced in eras named for her beloved pets.
“Gammy” or “Aunt Gammy” as she was affectionately known, was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and her legacy will live on through her step daughter, grandchildren (3) great grandchildren (6) nieces (8) nephews (4) and many other cherished relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Catherine McGovern Hafner and Henry Hafner of Daphne and her brothers, John Hafner and Joseph Hafner of Mobile, AL.
Memorial services will be held at Christ the King Church in Daphne on January 29, 2022 at 11:00 am.
